Writer: prepstreakprepstreak

My name is Akash Bhimawa. I have previously worked as SBI PO. Here is my strategy for clearing the RBI grade B Exam.

Phase 1

1. Reasoning: I have personally watched ANKUSH LAMBA’s videos on Unacademy/YouTube and gave mock tests on Practice Mock. I have used Practice Mock only till now, some other tests here and there but majorly it was Practice Mock.

2. Quant: Watched Aashish Arora’s Video on Unacademy/YouTube. I mostly gave mocks and aimed at clearing sectional cutoff along with some buffer marks.

3. English: Gave only mock tests on Practice Mock. My habit of reading newspapers helped me a lot.

4. General Awareness: Since I was short on time, I read ADDA247 monthly magazines, gave weekly General Awareness(GA) quizzes on Practice Mock, and watched monthly videos of GK Today.

a. Ideally, GA should be done daily through Affairs Cloud and GK Today.

b. You can follow someone else’s strategy, because I personally think my GA strategy is not so solid.

Phase 2

1. Newspapers: Indian Express and Financial Express

a. Read daily.

b. Skim through and find important articles regarding the Exam.

c. You can follow Brajesh Mohan Tutorials on telegram. He daily gives good updates about current affairs.

2. Finance: I have followed only EDUTAP notes for finance, I personally think they are more than sufficient to cover the static part. Practice MCQ from the Previous year's papers along with mock tests from coaching institutes.

3. Management: EDUTAP Notes only. Practice MCQ from Previous year papers along with mock tests from coaching institutes.

4. ESI: I have followed the following sources

d. Vision IAS for current affairs of ESI (prepare at least last 8-10 months)

e. Budget & Economic Survey – Vision IAS

f. Government Schemes – Vision IAS

g. SECC – Any coaching institutes compilation would suffice

5. I have never read PIB but if time permits you should read it. Some coaching institutes also bring their own compilations for PIB you can follow them.

6. Descriptive English: I once took a course for English descriptive by EDUTAP and the evaluation was good. It helped me a lot in writing online descriptive. You can practice English descriptive by writing small precis of newspaper editorials.

a. You can watch Essay Strategy of UPSC toppers and also the GS-3 strategy for answer writing.

b. Download toppers mains answer sheet to get an idea of how descriptive answers are written.

7. Answer writing:

a. I have had previous experience writing descriptive answers.

b. Practice mock tests from any coaching institute for writing practice and its evaluation.

c. Brajesh Mohan tutorials also gives daily practice questions. You can attempt those.

d. Crack Grade B course has sample questions and their answers for major topics of each subject. You can read that and practice from it.

8. Interview: Mostly it will be based on the bio-data form you fill and don’t worry about gap years or UPSC preparation. You should be able to justify everything you have written in your

bio data.

Sources to prepare:

a. Keeping reading newspapers and have a grip on all the important news in the last 1 year

b. RBI functions and working.

c. Deep knowledge of your job and about your company/ organization.

d. HR questions like why RBI, why shifting from your org to RBI, how can you contribute to RBI, etc.

e. Any hobby or thing that you like doing, you should have quite profound knowledge about it.

f. Read previous year's transcripts to get a better idea about different profiles and the kind of questions asked to those candidates.

g. Give a few mock interviews to get used to that environment.

9. Miscellaneous things you can do

a. Coaching institutes bring various kinds of videos on YouTube regarding Phase 1 and

Phase 2 revision. You can watch them.
